Loadshedding is causing major driving jams on the roads.
Eskom ramped up it's loadshedding schedules on Saturday after Cyclone Idai damaged power lines in the Cahora Bassa hydroelectricity plant.
South Africa imports about 1200 megawatts in electricity from the Zambezi river electricity infrastructure in Mozambique.
Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan and Eskom Chairperson Jabu Mabuza are briefing the media on the electricity crisis.
